Brainspotting
Brainspotting can be helpful for individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, and other emotional or physical issues
- A therapist guides the client to find a "brainspot" – a specific spot in their visual field that is linked to a traumatic or painful memory.
- By focusing on this spot while addressing their feelings, the client can access and process deep-rooted emotions and sensations.
- Brainspotting aims to tap into the body's inherent self-healing mechanisms
The FLASH technique
The Flash Technique (FT) is a recently developed evidenced-based therapeutic intervention for reducing the disturbance associated with traumatic or other distressing memories. Unlike many conventional trauma therapy interventions, FT is a minimally intrusive option that does not require the client to consciously engage with the traumatic memory. This allows the client to process traumatic memories without feeling distress. As an adjunct to the EMDR preparation phase or any exposure-based treatment, it makes it possible to process memories that would otherwise be intolerable or overwhelming to the client.
Critical Incident Debriefing
Trained through CTRI
What is Critical Incident Stress Debriefing?
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) is a facilitator-led group process conducted soon after a traumatic event with individuals considered to be under stress from trauma exposure. Indiviudals come together to naviagate the incident in a supportive enviroment tailored to your teams needs.
Clinicans do a pre and post assessment to support your team and help naviagate what has happened, while ensureing you are connected after.
EMDR Consultation with approved Consult in Training CIT
For EMDR therapists wanting support or working towards certification
The purpose of consultation is to increase your knowledge of EMDR, increase your comfort with the 8-phase, 3-pronged protocol and enhance outcomes for your clients.
Consultation focuses on the mastery and integration of standard EMDR therapy in practice. The consultant values the integrity and independence of the consultee. The consultant and consultee are expected to operate within the ethical standards and scope of practice of their respective professional licenses.
- The intended purpose of consultation is for the consultant to provide guidance and feedback to the consultee regarding their use of standard EMDR therapy with clients.
- Consultation is not supervision. The consultee maintains full responsibility and autonomy for the decisions involving their clients’ treatment. The consultant provides feedback on the consultee’s implementation of standard EMDR therapy and is not directive with client treatment.
Clinical Supervision for therapists and students
We offer clincial supervision to new or seasoned clinicans in a one-one or group setting.
Why do clincial supervision ongoing no matter what level you are at?
-Promoting supervisee growth and development through teaching.
-Protecting the welfare of the client.
-Monitoring supervisee performance and gatekeeping for the profession.
-Empowering the supervisee to self-supervise and carry out the above goals as an independent professional.
Solution Focused Therapy
What is SFBT?
Solution-focused (brief) therapy (SFBT)is a goal-directed collaborative approach to psychotherapeutic change that is conducted through direct observation of clients' responses to a series of precisely constructed questions. Based upon social constructivist thinking and Wittgensteinian philosophy, SFBT focuses on addressing what clients want to achieve without exploring the history and provenance of problem(s).[SF therapy sessions typically focus on the present and future, focusing on the past only to the degree necessary for communicating empathy and accurate understanding of the client's concerns.
SFBT is a future-oriented and goal-oriented interviewing technique that helps clients "build solutions." Elliott Connie defines solution building as "a collaborative language process between the client(s) and the therapist that develops a detailed description of the client(s)' preferred future/goals and identifies exceptions and past successes". By doing so, SFBT focuses on clients' strengths and resilience.
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
What is DBT?
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of talk therapy (psychotherapy). It’s based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), but it’s specially adapted for people who experience emotions very intensely.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of talk therapy that helps people understand how thoughts affect emotions and behaviors.
“Dialectical” means combining opposite ideas. DBT focuses on helping people accept the reality of their lives and their behaviors, as well as helping them learn to change their lives, including their unhelpful behaviors.
Dialectical behavior therapy was developed in the 1970s by Marsha Linehan, an American psychologist
Cogntitive Behavioural Therapy
What is CBT?
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on modifying dysfunctional emotions, behaviors, and thoughts by interrogating and uprooting negative or irrational beliefs. Considered a "solutions-oriented" form of talk therapy, CBT rests on the idea that thoughts and perceptions influence behavior.
Feeling distressed, in some cases, may distort one’s perception of reality. CBT aims to identify harmful thoughts, assess whether they are an accurate depiction of reality, and, if they are not, employ strategies to challenge and overcome them.
CBT is appropriate for people of all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults. Evidence has mounted that CBT can address numerous conditions, such as major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and many others.
Eye Movement Desensitizing Reprocessing EMDR
What is EMDR therapy?
EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. Ongoing research supports positive clinical outcomes, showing EMDR therapy as a helpful treatment for disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences (Maxfield, 2019). EMDR therapy has even been superior to Prozac in trauma treatment (Van der Kolk et al., 2007). Shapiro and Forrest (2016) share that EMDR therapists in 130 countries have successfully treated millions.
