The Expressive Arts is an approach that combines metaphor, story telling, sound, visual arts, movement, drama, presence (and more) to foster deep personal growth and community development. When used therapeutically the expressive arts are a tool for self-discovery, self-care, self-reflection, connecting with our inner-wisdom and for creating our own clarity. It is a resource-based approach, where one can feel supported to explore one’s inner world. Expressive Arts has its roots in Indigenous ways of healing and I respectfully acknowledge that Indigenous cultures have used the arts for healing since time out of mind.
